Chandigarh 22nd May:- National Academy of Sciences India (NASI), Chandigarh
chapter and National Agri-Food Biotechnology Institute (NABI) alongwithCentre
of Innovative and Applied Processing (CIAB) co-organized a Public Lecture on
“Why do we flock together by distinguish speaker Prof. Ajay K.Sood, FRS,
President INSA. During his lecture he described his studies wherein how the
subject in a big population flock together in a coherent manner and
demonstrated the use of basic physic for the application in material physics
and in different streams of sciences. In total, 350 people including30 school children,
45 college students from thelocal schools of Chandigarh, Panjab University,
Chandigarh University,
IISER-Mohali and students, scientists
and faculties form the neighbouring institutes such as INST, NIPER etc. also
attended the above event. Dr T.R Sharma, Executive Director, NABI welcomed the
speaker and the participants and briefly explained about the impact making
technologies developed at NABI. Dr IBS Passi, Chairperson, NASI Chandigarh chapter,
explained about various activities of NASI and introduced the speaker.After the
presentation,Dr. K. N. Pathak former
Vice – Chancellor Punjab University whoPresided over the function appreciated various activities of NASI and NABI related
to popularization of science. During this session students raised many
observations and queries related to the talk and had discussion with Prof.
Sood.Subsequently, various technologies developed by NABI and CIAB were also
showcased along with interactions with the delegates, visitors and school
students.
