July:- To create awareness on “Rising Trends of
Road Accident & Trauma Services in North India” a team of Doctors from
Paras Super Speciality Hospital Panchkula addressed the media
person today. Present on the occasion were: Dr Vinod Kumar-Sr Consultant
Orthopedics, Dr Anil Dhingra Associate Director Neuro Surgery, Dr Gaurav
Maheshwari, - Sr Consultant GI Surgery, Dr Ashwani Kumar – HOD Anesthesia, Dr
Jagandeep Virk–Consultant Orthopedics and Dr Priyanky Baodloi Head Emergency
from Paras Hospitals Panchkula.
The
Trauma program was officially flagged of by Commissioners of Police Saurabh
Singh IPS. Saurabh Singh appreciate the efforts team Trauma team at Paras
hospital Panchkula and said that since Paras Hospital is very strategically
located on the High Connecting to Yamunanagar and Shimla, He is sure with their
dedicated efforts team of doctors at Paras Hospital will be able to save many
precious lives.
Speaking
on the occasion Dr Vinod Kumar Said that Road accidents contribute to 83% of
all Traffic related deaths in India. People should know the importance of
Golden Hour concept, which means first 60 mins after any accident are most
important. If right patient, reaches right place in right time lot of lives can
be saved. He also shared that Roads in Haryana are most Fatal in terms of road
accidents and in there were 5118 deaths alone in accidents in Haryana in 2018.

his view on this occasion Dr Gaurav Maheshwari said that 400 deaths a day are
forcing India to take Trauma accidents seriously. 400 deaths every day is
equivalent to a Jumbo Jet Crash every day. He also said that most of the
accidents apart from Head injury, motorist also suffer Thoracic and GI injuries
as well, which are equally fatal, in not treated in a fully equipped Trauma
center. Dr Maheshwari at Paras Hospitals Panchkula our Trauma Team consists of
Orthopedic Surgeon, Thoracic Surgeon, GI surgeon, Plastic Surgeon, Neuro
Surgeon, Anesthetist and ER physician and hospital has got 08 Modular OTs, in
house Bloodbank, 128 slice CT and 3 Tesla MRI to deals with any type of Trauma
Injuries.
Addressing
the Media person Dr Anil Dhingra Said Over speeding and
not wearing Seat Belts are Major cases of Head Injuries in Trauma cases in
India.
In addition to these
drunken driving, Jumping Red Lights, Distraction to Driver, Non adherence to
driving lanes and overtaking from wrong side are other reasons for road
accidents in India. Dr Dhingra also shared that two-wheelers are one of the most
unsafe modes of transport, the UN Motorcycle Helmet Study says that
motorcyclists are 26 times more likely to die in a road crash than drivers of
passenger cars. Wearing an appropriate helmet improves their chances of
survival by 42% and helps avoid 69% of injuries to riders.
Sharing his views Dr Ajay
Bisht said that India is amongst the World Leader in Road Traffic
deaths”. In India, over 78% of vehicles on the road are two-wheelers and
they account for about 29 % of road accidents. Brain is one of the most
sensitive organ of our body which comes under impact in any road accident.
Wearing a good helmet and tying it properly can prevent loss of lives in 90
percent of accident cases.
