21st September:- Chandigarh Commission for Protection of Child Rights today released the
Simplified Audio Visual CD on Provisions of Juvenile Justice Act, 2015
and POCSO Act 2012 in Sign Language for the Children with Hearing Impairment on
the occasion of International Day of Sign Language.
The objective of the CD is to create a
better understanding about the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses
(POCSO) Act and Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015
for the children of special needs.
Speaking on the Occasion, B.L.
Sharma, Commissioner Disability cum Secretary Education-cum-Social Welfare
& Women & Child Development said that Chandigarh Administration is
consistently making efforts to make the city beautiful not only a smart, but
the most inclusive city in the the country. With the joint efforts of the
officers of the Social Welfare & Women & Child Development
Department, CCPCR & awareness created by the Media, initiatives aimed at
sensitising this segment of the society about their rights and duties thereby
has become easier & expansive.
While addressing the participants, Harjinder Kaur,
Chairperson, CCPCR said that awareness is the Key prerogative in making Child
Friendly Cities. CCPCR intents to create a inclusive society where each child
gets holistic opportunities for their growth and well being. And this is a step
in that direction.
