Chandigarh 14th September:- The 18th Annual Meeting of AOSPR
(Asian and Oceanic Society of Paediatric Radiology) combined with 16th Annual
meeting of ISPR (Indian Society of Paediatric Radiology) was inaugurated by
Prof. Jagat Ram, Director, PGIMER, Chandigarh. The conference is being
organized by Department of Radiodiagnosis, PGIMER, Chandigarh under the
Chairmanship of Prof. N. Khandelwal, Head, Department of Radiodiagnosis.
Prof.A.K. Saxena and Prof. K.S.Sodhi are Organizing Secretaries of the
conference.
Around
800 delegates from different parts of the world are attending the conference.
In today’s deliberation, various scientific sessions and symposia were held on
paediatric imaging and paediatric emergencies. The major attraction of the day
was Dr. MVK Shetty Oration on “The Enigma of Paediatric Liver Tumors; can
Multi-modality Imaging be the Guiding Light?” which was delivered by Prof. Raju
Sharma, AIIMS, India. Dr. Raju highlighted the role of MRI in diagnosing and
characterizing liver tumors in children. Dr. Arcot Gajraj Oration on “MR
Imaging of the Newborn Brain and Hypoxic ischaemic encephalopathy” was
delivered by Prof. Manohar Shroff, Radiologist-in-Chief in the Hospital for
Sick Children (Sick Kids), Toronto, Canada. He discussed the imaging findings
on MRI in encephalopathy.
The
day ended with the interesting film reading session, conducted by experts in
Paediatric Radiology.
