Chandigarh 05th September:- Amway India,
the country’s leading FMCG Direct Selling Company, has bagged the “Best Corporate” award in the ‘Specially-abled’ category at the prestigious National CSR Summit
& Awards 2018, organised by CSR Times. Suresh Prabhu,Minister of
Commerce & Industry and Civil Aviation, Government of India,presented the
award to Ms. Simrat Bishnoi, National Head–Corporate Communications & Corporate
Social Responsibility, Amway India,amidst top leaders and jury members such
as Stuti Narain Kacker, Chairperson,National Commission for Protection of
Child Rights, Government of India; Padma Shri Dr. K KAgarwal, Dr. M P
Narayanan, Vice Chairman, World Mining Congress; Harish Chandra, Editor, CSR
Times.
Aimed at honoring the outstanding and innovative
CSR practices adopted by organizations, the award recognises Amway’s
persistent contribution and work towards the
welfare of visually impaired individuals.
On receiving the award, Simrat
Bishnoi, National Head–Corporate Communications & Corporate Social
Responsibility, Amway India said that we are truly honoured to be recognized for our efforts towards
the cause of visually impaired individuals over the last two decades. Aligned
with the Government of India’s ‘Accessible India’ initiative aimed at expanding
prospects for people with disabilities, Amway has been supporting and empowering the visually impaired
individuals by creating opportunities for their education as well as
digitization of the educational material for greater accessibility. She said
further that the award is a testimony of Amway’s
commitment towards‘Helping people live better lives’ and making a strong impact
on the lives of over 2.5 lakh visually impaired individuals under the
project.Corporate Social Responsibility is a core component of Amway’s ethos.
We have been undertaking CSR initiatives since the company’s inception in the
country. The award brings Amway direct sellers, employees, affiliates and
customers a cause of pride that goes beyond the realms of business.
As a key focus area, Amway has been
working tirelessly towards the welfare of the visually impaired individuals with
a firm belief that education and knowledge are the keys to the future
transcending physical limitations. Amway India started CSR initiatives in 1999
with the National Project for the Visually Impaired to provide opportunities of quality
education to visually impaired, thereby improving their employment prospects.
Under this project, Amway has launched Braille textbooks, audio
books and libraries, computer training centers, BPOs, and several
other initiatives which has helped in increasing the education prospects of the visually
impaired. So far, the project has impacted the lives of over 2.50
Lakh visually impaired individuals.
