April:- Yoga is the only way out for Punjab to combat
cancer and drug addiction says Yoga advisor to honorable Prime Minister
and Padamshri Dr H R Nagendra while interacting with doctors at a Thanksgiving
program organized by Joshi Foundation at Chandigarh. Nagendra who is Chancellor
of SYVASA University Banglore is known for his contribution towards framing
nationwide Yoga accreditation system and scientific validation of various Yoga
protocols.
Present on the occasion were Vice Chancellor
Panjab University Prof Raj Kumar, Chancellor Chandigarh University Satnam
Sandhu, Municipal Commissioner Chandigarh KK Yadav, Chief Engineer Chandigarh
Mukesh Anand, renowned international cardiologist Dr HK Bali, Pankaj Jain
Senior Standing Counsel UT Chandigarh, Dr Rakesh Sharma Director Ayurveda Punjab, Dr
Akshay Anand, Scientific Advisor of Joshi Foundation; Col BS Sandhu Chairman
WWICS group; Vineet Joshi and Saurabh Joshi both Chairman and President Joshi
Foundation.
Narrating experience of Boston, USA, Nagendra
explained how each time an addict comes out of a drug de-addiction centre, he
goes back to addiction again. He further added that US National Institute of
Health is spending over 2 billion dollars, yet de-addiction effort failed each
time when hospitalization was done. Studies have proved that Yoga intervention
can play a significant role in prevention of addiction.
Recent trial has established that Diabetic yoga
protocol converted pre-diabetic into healthy adults. It was conducted on 50000
people all over India under Niayntrit Madhumay Bharat program, said
Nagendra. To ensure that maximum are benefited via yoga at Govt of
India's 1, 50,000 wellness centers, Nagendra announced digital yoga
learning to train the yoga teachers all over India for these centers.
Dr Nagendra honoured 127 doctors for their
selfless contribution. The healthcare workers were drawn from Allopathy,
Ayurveda, Homeopathy, Sidha and Yoga. They provided a unique healthcare
delivery model for city residents in the form of a mega free check up health
camp organised under the aegis of Joshi Foundation in Nov 2018.
