Chandigarh 08th Aug:- A tree plantation drive
was undertaken on today by the Engineering Department at Leisure Valley,
Sector-51, Chandigarh wherein Manoj Parida, Adviser to the Administrator U.T.
was the Chief Guest and Ajoy Kumar Sinha, Finance Secretary was Guest of
Honour.
All the officers and
members of Resident Welfare Association planted saplings during this
drive. The Chief Engineer-cum-Spl. Secy. (Engg.) explained that these
saplings were planted in lieu of 541 trees, which are likely to be axed on
account of construction of Fly over at Tribune Chowk and 25 trees are to be
re-transplanted. There is a proposal for planting 2799 saplings in lieu
of trees to be axed at various locations. The drive began by planting saplings
today at Leisure Valley, Sector-51 wherein 787 saplings will be
planted. Thereafter, 958 saplings at Palm Garden, Sector 42, 4811 saplings at
Garden of Spring, Sector 53 and 643 at Purv Marg will also planted in
future.
Mukesh Anand, Chief
Engineer-cum-Spl. Secy. (Engg.), Members of Resident Welfare Association were
also present at this occasion.
