Chief Electoral Officer Holds Meeting regarding the Special Summary Revision (intensive) of Photo Electoral Rolls

Chandigarh 02nd Aug:- A meeting was held today under the chairmanship of Ajoy Kumar Sinha, Chief Electoral Officer-cum-Finance Secretary, Chandigarh with the representatives of Political Parties regarding the Special Summary Revision (intensive) of the Photo Electoral Rolls.
It was emphasized that the special summary revision will begin with the improvement in health of Electoral roll from 1st August 2019 to 31st August 2019 wherein removal of logical errors will be done. An Electors Verification Programme (EVP) will be run to encourage citizens to authenticate existing elector details by giving a copy of any of the mentioned documents like Indian Passport, Dirivng License, Aadhar, Ration Card or any other document approved by the Commission. The citizens can also verify their electoral roll details through Voter Helpline mobile app, NVSP portal, by CSC or by submitting a hard copy of forms through BLO’s to ERO’s.
House to house verification will be carried out by the BLO’s from 1st September 2019 till 20th September 2019 wherein verification of information collected from citizens will be done. During this verification, the BLO’s will also collect details of un-enrolled/dead/ shifted electors.
The integrated draft electoral roll will be published on 15th October 2019, and the claims and objections will be filed from 15th October till 30th November 2019. The final publication of electoral roll will be done from 1st January 2020 to 15th January 2020.
The Chief Electoral Officer has directed all the AERO’s to undertake this revision activity and to supervise their teams periodically. He also requested all the Political Parties to identify and appoint Booth Level Agents for each polling station that would be associated with BLO during revision period. Sh Ajoy Kumar Sinha informed the representatives of the political parties about the procedures of the revision and sought their cooperation in the roll revision exercise.
Present among other officers were Mandip Singh Brar, Additional Chief Electoral Officer cum Deputy Commissioner, Saurabh Mishra, SDM (S), Smt. Nazuk Kumar, SDM (C), Sudhanshu Gautam, SDM (E), Jagjit Singh Joint Chief Electoral Officer.
