September:- Dogri language and its writers will
be celebrated at a glittering award ceremony being jointly organised by Kunwar
Viyogi Memorial Trust and Dogri Sanstha Jammu on Sunday. To be held at the
newly constructed Kunwar Viyogi Auditorium, at Dogri Sanstha, the two awards -
Kunwar Viyogi Sahitya Kala Samaan and Kunwar Viyogi Sahitya Puraskaar will be
awarded to one of Dogri's most beloved writers and Sahitya Akademi awardee late
Chhatrapal Saraf (posthumously) and young writer Roshan Lal Bral. Both the
recipients will be awarded with a state of the art memento, a shawl and cash
prize.
Chhatrapal will be the first
recipient of Kunwar Viyogi Sahitya Kala Samaan that has been instituted to
honour the iconic Dogri writers. A jury comprising of noted Dogri writers Prof
Veena Gupta, Gyaneshwar and Dogri Sanstha President Lalit Mangotra finalised
Chhatrapal Saraf's name before his unfortunate demise, following a brief
illness. Kunwar Viyogi Sahitya Kala Samman, will be presented annually by the
Trust and Dogri Sanstha, Jammu to Dogri artist for their "outstanding
contribution towards Dogri language, literature and its varied art forms".
Well known literary experts,
teachers, critics, universities, and literary and language associations provide
nominations for the award annually. All the nominations will be scrutinized by
a jury and their recommendations submitted to the Dogri Sanstha consisting of
members of "high repute and integrity.
Kunwar Viyogi Sahitya Puraskaar
will be awarded to young writer Roshan Lal Bral for his collection of Dogri
poems ‘SHEESHA'. Three member jury comprising of eminent Dogri writers
Inderjeet Kesar, Prof Shashi Pathania and Dogri Sanstha President Lalit
Mangotra finalised Bral's name for the award. Kunwar Viyogi Sahitya Puraskar is
awarded every year for the first book or the best book in Dogri by a young
Indian author or for translation work in any Indian language recognized by the
Dogri Sanstha.
